Been a long time...
09 Aug 2005
A lot can happen over a month. Greg and I left for Peru on June 22nd. When he arrived we celebrated my birthday with a new couchsurfing friend, Lourdes, who took us to have the best ceviche in the entire world and showed us how to make Pisco Sours. Mmmm. We climbed around a few mountains, yours truly got altitude sickness, then just plain sick and through all of that we still had an amazing time with 14 complete strangers. I got some terrific shots which you can find in the Photos/Peru portion of the website. www.amyrtw.com/photos/peru-2005/
Just before I left I arranged to have my first photography exhibit in August. Returning home from Peru I had just 3 weeks to: Order 35 quality frames, sort through thousands of, tweak, and correct my photos, print and mat all of them. The night we hung them was sheer chaos. There was a open mic poetry night going on & people everywhere. Towards the end I told Greg to just put them on the wall & I'll shuffle them around the next day. At the opening party we had about 85-100 people come out! I was thrilled with the crowd and really pleased with the outcome. All that work finally paid off. Greg can attest, I was very nervous. www.amyrtw.com/gallery/ to see all of the photos currently on display.
A few days before the opening I had been out all day & returned home with armfuls of groceries to find Greg upstairs enjoying a beautiful sunset with a glass of red wine. I sat and joined him and after a little while of talking he got silent. That's when he asked me to marry him.
My trip originally delayed until mid August due to the exhibit, is now delayed until HE gets his visa. Until then the plan is simple: sell the house, sell everything we own, and pack up the rest and put it on our back... (sound familiar?) We're going on a roadtrip! Two months to hit ten states and a province in two countries. Stay tuned.
