The Turkey Chronicles
28 Nov 2005
So, yes we celebrated thanksgiving. Canada's thanksgiving is actually in October, so we missed that one. Since neither of his parents had had a chance to celebrate, we had a special US thanksgiving this year. Everything turned out perfect. The turkey was a tad bit obstinate & took an hour longer than it should have. When it was done though... it was the best Turkey I've ever made. We stuffed it too! I got to stuff and sew the whole thing up. Very different. Even basted. Then I made "Very Berry" Cranberry sauce with blueberries. Delicious. Homemade Stuffing, Steamed Broccoli, roasted Yam chunks, Fresh Apple Pie with Grama Bound's Flaky pie crust. It was so good that greg's grama had seconds and thirds! Apparently they had never seen her eat so much. We all had a great time.
Well, what started out as just Greg's papers, is now OUR papers. I am officially on his application & will be a part of the deciding factor too. We have JUST sent our paperwork in on Friday & it will take "about 4 months" to process unless he has a NZ job offer. Will keep everyone posted on progress. It looks as though I might be volunteering at the Royal Museum of British Columbia as a photographer. Will get more details tomorrow, still very tentative. Also thinking about volunteering to assist photographers in the area (just an idea still.) Joined the Recreation center around the corner, so close I can walk, and I've taken up swimming (or am attempting to.) I'm looking for things to do because although I can't work, I NEED to have 1. some social interaction 2. something to keep my brain occupied. Would like to find a free weekly newspaper for Victoria like the Austin Chronicle... will look into that this week.
